 The Alliance for Regional Stewardship will co-sponsor a professional development course to be presented by the Lincoln Institute of Land Policy next month in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Entitled Regional Collaboration: Learning to Think and Act Like a Region, the two-day course will introduce participants to all phases of conducting a regional collaboration, from initiation and process design, to selecting courses of action and strategies for implementation and sustaining momentum. ARS President and CEO John Parr will serve as a member of the course faculty.
Founded in 1974, the Lincoln Institute of Land Policy is a nonprofit educational organization that studies, teaches and expands the base of useful knowledge relating to planning and development and land valuation and taxation in the United States and throughout the world.
Other co-sponsoring organizations of the regional collaboration course include the Land Trust Alliance, the National Association of Regional Councils, Smart Growth America, the U.S. Bureau of Land Management Office of Dispute Resolution and Collaborative Action, the U.S. Forest Service, and Western Planning Resources, Inc.
Largely interactive and participatory, the program will employ a combination of case studies, lectures and hands-on exercises to provide both the conceptual framework and practical skills to plan and implement regional initiatives.
The registration deadline for this unique training opportunity is March 12, 2004. Tuition is $200 per participant, and attendance is limited to 40.
