Registration is now open for the upcoming National Forum on Regional Stewardship, May 4-6, 2005, at the Wyndham Hotel in Washington, D.C. This Spring Forum?s central theme will be ?The Next Generation in CollaborationLinking Economic and Social Issues.?
In addition to highlighting the efforts of the Greater Washington, D.C. region, sessions will include discussions on Multi-State Regional Initiatives, Federal Policy Towards Regions, and Social-Economic Collaborations. Breakout sessions will focus on critical issues such as Workforce Development, Health Care, Homeland Security, and Regional Equity, among others.
Confirmed speakers include Alice Rivlin, Director in Economic Studies at the Brookings Institution; Former Maryland Governor Parris Glendening; Robert Yaro of New York?s Regional Planning Association; Geoff Anderson, Acting Chief of Staff to Associate Administrator for Policy, EPA; Jeff B. Speck, Director of Design, National Endowment for the Arts; and Kathy Covert, Associate Strategist for the USGS?s Federal Geographic Data Committee.
The Forum will kick off with a Riverboat Tour of the Anacostia Development Projects. Join us on Wednesday, May 4th, on the Presidential yacht U.S.S. Sequoia for an introduction to exciting initiatives in the Greater Washington, D.C. region.
The 2005 Regional Stewardship Awards will also be presented at the National Forum. Applications from candidate regions are due March 21, 2005.
