The 2006 Conference on the Suburbs will focus on new collaborative approaches that are particularly effective for suburban areas such as California?s Inland Empire. California State Treasurer Phil Angelides will be the luncheon speaker.
This year?s conference will feature speakers from around the country, describing successful regional initiatives in their areas. Other speakers will look at the involvement of private-sector groups and the issues that arose as heralded regional planning efforts reached the implementation stage.
Robert D. Yaro, President of Regional Plan Association and a member of the ARS Board of Directors; Robert Grow, also a member of the ARS Board of Directors and founding chair emeritus of Envision Utah, and Doug Henton, President of Collaborative Economics and national coordinator for ARS?s John W. Gardner Academy will each be speaking at the Conference.
The Conference on the Suburbs is hosted each year by the Edward J. Blakely Center for Sustainable Suburban Development. Co-hosts for 2006 include the Inland Empire District Council of the Urban Land Institute.
